STAFF REPORT
At the time that the contract for this project was awarded,
new regulations requiring backflow prevention devices on
domestic water service were not in effect. Since that time,
State environmental regulations have been fnalized to include
this requirements for all water services greater than 3/4
inches in diameter.
Due to these requirements, the Water Department cannot issue
a final approval of this project until the backflow
prevention device is installed. The contractor has submi~ted
a cost of $972.60 for furnishing and installing the required
valve. This is a reasonable price which is almost evenly
divided between labor and material.
URGENCY CLAUSE
Since the contractor is presentl~ on the project site and
nearing completion of the contract. it is imperative that
change Order No. Two be acted on to facilitate a timely
completion of the project.
