Synopsis of Previous Council action:
At the meeting of the Mayor and Council held November 2, 1987, the re-
instatement of Animal Control Field Service fees and owner release
fees was approved.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ESTABLISHING
CERTAIN FEES FOR RECLAIMING IMPOUNDED DOGS, ANIMAL ADOPTION
SERVICES, ANIMAL PICK UP SERVICES, RESEARCH ANIMAL SALES AND
ANIMAL VACCINATION SERVICES.
SECTION 1.
The following schedule of fees is hereby
established for reclaiming dogs impounded by the city:
first offense
twenty dollars apprehension fee,
plus five dollars per day or any
part thereof board fee.
second offense
forty dollars apprehension fee,
plus five dollars per day or any
part thereof board fee.
third and subsequent
sixty dollars apprehension fee,
times the total offenses number
of offenses which have occurred,
plus five dollars per day or any
part thereof board fee.
16 SECTION 2. The following schedule of fees are hereby
17 established for animal pick up services, research animal sales
18 and animal vaccination services:
19 A. Pick-up service charge.

B. Adoption fees (to new owners):
fifteen dollars for each dog or puppy
ten dollars for each cat or kitten
C. Research animal sales:
one hundred dollars for each dog or puppy
sixty dollars for each cat or kitten
D. If two or more persons are interested in the purchase of
a particular dog, puppy, cat or kitten, the animal
control officer shall conduct a public sale by sealed
bids. The dog, puppy, cat or kitten shall be sold to
the highest bidder, except if one bidder desires to
provide a home for such animal and another wants the
animal for research. In such event, a dog, puppy, cat
or kitten shall be sold to an individual desiring to

provide a home for such animal rather then for research
purposes. All bids must exceed the sale price of
fifteen dollars for each dog or puppy, or of ten
dollars for each cat or kitten.
E. Vaccination fee:
six dollars for each dog or cat
F. Owner Release Fees:
No charge to residents of the City of San Bernardino
or contracting agencies. All other residents:
Dogs (over 4 months of age), each $10.00
Dogs (under 4 months of age), each $6.00
Cats and kittens, each $6.00
Litters of puppieslkittens not weaned (per litter) $10.00
Dead animal disposal, each $2.00

ORDINANCE NO.
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION
6.24.140 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FEES
AND REPEALING SECTION 6.24.150 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 6.24.140 of the San Bernardino
Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
"6.24.140 Running at large - Impoundment.
Any dog found running at large or unrestrained in the
City shall be impounded by the Animal Control Officer for a
period of seventy-two hours. If the owner or possessor of the
dog does not claim the dog and pay any sums due or owing during
the seventy-two hours, the dog shall be disposed of by authorized
employees of the City."
SECTION 2. Section 6.24.150 of the San Bernardino
Municipal Code is hereby repealed.
