Moody Construction, Inc. for adding two 3.5-ton HV AC units and other minor contract changes in the total amount of$7,930 at City Yards. BACKGROUND On December 18, 2000, The City of San Bernardino Council adopted Resolution No. 2000-350 authorizing the execution of a contract with R. Moody Construction, Inc. for the remodeling of the City Yard Locker- Room/Restroom Facility at 234 North Mountain View, in San Bernardino. The remodel project included not only the restroom and locker room facilities, but also roof reconstruction and kitchen upgrades. During the reconstruction of the roof and prior to installation of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HV AC) unit, it came to staffs attention that it would be more efficient and lower overall operating (electrical) costs to install two 3.5 ton HV AC units instead of adding one 3-ton unit to the existing 5-ton system that was 15- years old. The increased capital cost for this change is $3,800. Additionally, it was discovered that 400 square feet of concrete floor in the old shower and restrooms needed to be replaced due to significant defects including cracking and lifting. The cost of this additional work is $1,600. Previous to its current use as a locker room and warehouse, this facility was used as an automotive repair shop. Occasionally, the hydraulic lifts, which raised the vehicles for inspection of their undercarriages, were lifted too high for the sloped roof and damage to some of the structural columns and steel supports resulted. This damage was noticed when the demolition phase of the roof began and repair was required. The cost to perform this work amounts to $2,080. An additional gas line for the cook top and a bank of cabinet drawers, at a cost of $450, are required to complete the kitchen remodeling. The total amount of these changes is $7,930,00. FINANCIAL IMP ACT The cost of this change order request is $7,930, which will be funded by the Facilities Management's budget 001-321-5706-0000. RECOMMENDATION (S): Adopt Resolution. ,..-'" ( \...... Moody Construction, Inc. for the addition 11 of two 3.5-ton HV AC units, a gas line, a bank of cabinet drawers, removal and replacement of 12 400 square feet of concrete, and repair of roof colurnns and supports at the City Yard Locker- room Restroom Facility at 234 North Mountain View in San Bernardino per Specification No. 14 FOl-42 and per the quotations dated June 18,2001 for $3,800.00, June 4,2001 for $3,680.00, 15 16 and July 18,2001 for $450 in the total amount of $7,930.00. 17 SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above-referenced Change Order No. One 18 to the contract with R.
