the Tri-Centennial Commission.
Twenty-five years ago, when our nation celebrated its Bicentennial Anniversary, civic

would be responsible for promulgating San Bernardino's celebration and observance of
our nation's Tri-Centennial Anniversary in the year 2076.
On July 19, 1976, Mayor W. R. Holcomb and Councilmembers Tony Campos, Edward
S. Wheeler, Jr., William Katona, Lionel Hudson, John D. Hobbs, and Russell E. Lackner,

civic leaders who collectively paid a total of $1 ,000 to set up an interest bearing account.
The Resolution designated Santa Fe Federal Savings and Loan Association as the initial
depository for said funds. The account was later transferred to Life Bank where the funds
are in a Certificate of Deposit that has a balance of $8,706.38 as ofJuly 31, 2001.
The 19 members who contributed the $1000.00 in 1976 include the following persons,
some of whom have passed away during the last 25 years: Vern and Barbara Potter,
Larry and Evelyn Harvey, Louis M. and Thehna Press, William and Monique Coleman,
