Staff Report
Subiect:
Resolution of the City of San Bernardino authorizing the Mayor of the City of San
Bernardino or her designee to execute Amendment No, 3 to the Agreement with San
Bernardino City Unified School District, relating to deliyery of lunches and snacks to
Delmann Heights Headstart Center.
Backl!round
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has proyided a Headstart
Program at Delmann Heights Community Center since 1978 with an agreement with San
Bernardino City Unified School District for providing lunches and snacks. This program
currently accommodates 30 morning and 30 afternoon preschoolers, ages 3-5, and runs
September through June.
This proposed amendment to the agreement includes a $.06 increase for Student Type A
Lunches (from $1.89 to $1.95) an increase of $.04 for Schedule B Snacks (from $.41 to
$.45) and an increase in Adult lunches of $.06 (from $1.94 to $2.00).
The increases are due to an increase in the service provided by the school district which
includes furnishing milk, straws, utensils and napkins.
Financial Impact
Total program costs are estimated to be approximately $25,000. Of this amount the
Federal Headstart Grant will pick up approximately $22,000, and the Parks Department
will pick up $3,000 (Account No. 001-381-5193 - Grant Match) included in the FY 01-
02 Parks budget.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO OR HER DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE
AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH SAN BERNARDINO CITY
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, RELATING TO DELIVERY OF LUNCHES AND
SNACKS TO DELMANN HEIGHTS HEADST ART CENTER.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
6 OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services
Department is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of said City Amendment No,
3 to the agreement with the San Bernardino City Unified School District relating to the delivery
of Type A Lunches and Schedule B Snacks to City's Delmann Heights Headstart Center, to
extend the term for one year and to provide for the increased rates for student lunches at one
dollar and ninety-five cents ($1,95), and snacks at forty-five cents ($.45) each, and adult lunches
at two dollars ($2.00) each, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and
incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at length, All other terms and
conditions of the Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 2. The authorization granted hereunder shall expire and be void and of no
further effect if the agreement is not executed by both parties and returned to the office of the
City Clerk within sixty (60) days following the effective date of the resolution.

AMENDMENT NO.3
AGREEMENT
(San Bernardino Unified School District)
This Amendment to Agreement is entered into this 18th day of June , 2001, by and
between the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO and SAN BERNARDINO CITY UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICT delivery of Type A Lunches and Schedule B Snacks to the City's Delmann
Heights Headstart Center,
I. That certain Agreement between the parties dated June 24,1998 is hereby amended to
extend the term of this contract for an additional one-year period.,. "commencing July
I, 2001 and expiring June 30, 2002;" and to increase the rates in Paragraph III.
Payment, as follows: Adult Lunch: $2.00, Student Type A Lunch: $1.95, Schedule B
Snacks: $,45).
2. All other terms and conditions of the Agreement described shall remain in full force
and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed this instrument upon the date first herein
above appearing.

Dear Mr. Brown:
This letter is in reference to the Food Service Agreement dated June 24. 1998 between the San
Bernardino City Unified School District and the City of San Bernardino on behalf of its Delman
Heights Child Care Center, This agreement expires June 30, 2001 and may be extended by
mutual written consent one year at a time up to a total of three years, subject to the terms and
conditions agreed upon by both parties by June 30th of each year.
This letter serves as written notification of the District's wish to extend this agreement through
June 30, 2002 and also as written notice of the following change:

A, Section III-Payment: the cost per meal will increase as follows:
Student Type A Lunch: $1.95
Schedule B Snacks: $0.45
Adult Lunch: $2.00
If the City of San Bernardino wishes to extend this agreement and agrees to the above noted
change in the Delman Heights Child Care Center contract, please have the Director sign below
and return to me no later than June 15, 200 I.
