Synopsis of Previous Council action:
The Council authorized parttime employment for eight (8) people as summer lunch
monitors on April 21, 1986. These monitors were employed for a period of 47
days during the months of June, July, August and September, 1986.
Recommended motion:
That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department be authorized to hire
eight (8) summer lunch monitors on a parttime basis for a 47 day period during the
months of June, July, August and September, 1987.

AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE MONITORS FOR
SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
STAFF REPORT
The federally funded Summer Lunch Program has been successfully operated for the
past 12 years. During the summer of 1986. 32 feeding stations were established
at locations in and around the City of San Bernardino. An average of 1.700 meals
per day were served.
The Summer Lunch Program provides nutritional help to children who would otherwise
be deprived of food assistance received at other times of the year under the
National School Lunch Program.
Eight (8) summer lunch monitors are needed. The monitors will be assigned to routes
in various geographical areas in order that they may effect daily program checks
at Summer Lunch sites. Salaries for the monitors will be at no cost to the City. as
it is reimbursed from administrative cost of the Summer Lunch Program.
