STAFF REPORT
The Treasury Department has recently released $70 million in contingency
General Revenue Sharing funds to municipalities. The City of San Bernardino
has received $59,468 which represents its share of these funds.
Revenue Sharing regulations require that a public hearing be held prior
to the adoption of a budget dealing with the use of Revenue Sharing
funds. The public hearing has been scheduled for March 23, 1987 at
9:00 a.m. The purpose of this hearing is to provide an opportunity
for citizen input on the use of the contingency funds released by
GRS. Also required is the publishing of a legal adver:tisement which has
been met.
Contingency funds just as with prior monies received from GRS can be
used. for any budget purpose desi gnated by the l-layor and Common Counci 1.
On October 3, 1986, the City of San Bernardino received its last regularly
scheduled General Revenue Sharing payment of $610,284. These funds have
been designated to be used for 1986/87 equipment purchases. It is
recommended that the GRS contingency funds also be used for equipment.
According to the Office of General Revenue Sharing, this reoresents the
