Synopsis of Previous Council ection:
Authorization on February 16, 1987, by the Mayor and Common Council to purchase
100 - 3 cubic yard refuse bins.
Recommen-:led motion:
That the Department of Public Services/Refuse Section be authorized to purchase 100
additional 3 cubic yard refuse bins at an estimated cost of $30,000 and that the
needed funds be transferred from the Refuse Fund Balance Account (127-000-30405).

STAFF REPORT
In January, 1987, the Department of Public Services/Refuse Section requested
and was authorized by the Mayor and Common Council to transfer funds in the
amount of $30,000 from the Refuse Fund Balance Account Nu~ber 127-000-30405
to purchase 100 - 3 cubic yard bins. At that time it was felt these 100 bins
would be sufficient to handle new accounts through the end of fiscal year
1986-87. However, since the weather has been good construction has been pro-
gressing at a much faster rate than anticipated.
Within the next 30 days, a new apartment complex will be opened for occupancy
and will require 60 3 cubic yard bins to start service. The Orange Show will
also require another 30 bins. The 10 remaining bins will not be adequate to
start service of a second apartment complex in the Kendall Avenue/State Col-
lege area which will probable be completed within the next 60 days.
The additional 100 bins now being requested will be used to start other new
business establishments, replace damaged bins and for special services which
are always high during the Spring months. Purchase for all 200 bins is being
requested as an urgent need.
