Schultz, of Reid & Hellyer. on behalf of El Dorado Bank, for 17th Street. East of Conejo Drive. to be vacated, The request was brought about by the encroachment of a new apartment building into the setback from the street right-of-way. Proceedings were initiated. however, at your October 20, 1986 meeting, your Honorable Body directed that the proceedings be terminated, During this proceedings, the City Attorney's Office recommended. and representatives of the bank had agreed to erect a barrier that would preclude access to a bridge located at the Easterly terminus of 17th Street, and would also put up signs at Conejo and Fairfax indicating that it is not a through street. and put an additional sign at Conejo and 17th Street indicating that this is not a public street, On March 6, 1987, this office received a request from Vanir De vel 0 p men t Com pan y , In c. 0 n be half 0 f L. Y , W, I n v est men t Co.. the new owners of the property at 1721 N, ConejoDrive, to initiate proceedings to vacate 17th Street. East of Conejo Drive. along with $200,00 to cover the initial cost of proceedings, Seventeenth Street, is 15 feet in width. anid extends from Conejo Drive to the Flood Control Channel Right-af-Way. An older one-lane bridge is in place to convey traffic across the channel. To date we have been unable to locate any publ ic easement for this bridge, The bridge is in need of maintenance, Access easements will be reserved in the resolution ordering vacation for the abutting property to the South and East.
