STAFF REPORT
Over tne past 20-plus years, several surrounding governmental agencies
have contracted Anima'J Shelter Services with the City of San Bernardino
because they had no animal shelter of their own. San'Bernardino County
has now built its own animal shelter, however, wishes to enter into an
agreement with -us as a 'supplement to their smaller shelter. The City of
Redlands also Itasitsown shelter, however, its fun operational date is
yet uncertain.
Colton and Loma Linda have approved the attached respective contracts.
The City 'of Rialto no longer desires our services as they have entered
into an agreement with San Bernardino County for shelter services.
The attached agreements.are for a five year term, to expire June 30,1991.
Fee increases are scheculed as follows:
Jul y 1, 1986 to June 30, 1987.
July 1, 1987 to June 30, 1989
July 1, 1989 to June 30, 1991

SECTION 1. The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is
hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of said
city a Second Amendment to Agreements with the County of San
Bernardino, and the Cities of Colton, Lema Linda and Redlands
relating to animal shelter services, a copy of which i.
attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by this
refernece as though set forth at length.

This is an amendment to our contract with the city of San Bernardino to
impound and dispose of stray animals.
This amendment would increase the impound price for livestock (e.g.,
horses, sheep, etc.) to a maximum of $12,50 per day for large animals.
The current maximum is $4.00 per day. Rates for other animals are
unchanged. Expenditures are included in the Department of Public Health's
approved FY 19B6-B7 budget.
This is the second amendment to the original contract that was approved
by the Board of Supervisors on July 1, 19B4.

July 1, 1986, between the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, a municipal
corporation, referred to as .City,. and the COUNTY OF SAN
BERNARDINO, a municipal corporation, referred to as .Contracting
Agency..
City and Contracting Agency agree as follows:
1. Recitals.
(a) City and Contracting Agency entered into anagre...nt
on July 1, 1984, and a first amendment to said agreement on July
1, 1985, hereinafter collectively referred to as .Agr....nt,.
relating to the joint use of City's animal shelter.
(b) The parties now desire to further amend the Agreement
to provide for a five-year extension of the term, and to provide
for increases in the fee for impounding, caring for and disposing
of animals.
2. Pa~ent. Paragraph 4 of the Agre.ment is amended
effective July 1, 1986, to read as follows:
.4. Pa~.nt. Contracting Agency shall pay to City during
th.period of July 1, 1986 through June 30, 1987, for services
provided for in this agreement $17.50 for any canine (dog or
puppy), and $10.00 for any feline (cat or kitten) delivered to
City by Contracting Agency. During the period of July 1, 1987
through June 30, 1989, fees will increase to $19.00 for any
canine (dog or puppy), and $11.00 for any feline (cat or kitten).
During the period of July 1, 1989 through June 30, 1991, fees
