That the transfer of $25,115 from Account No. 127-000-30405 (Fund Balance) to
Account No. 127-412-55113 (15 cubic yard side loader) be approved.

STAFF REPORT
Included in the proposed FY1986-87 Budget requests was the purchase of a 15 Cubic
Yard Side Loading Refuse Truck. The estimated purchase price received at that
time was $45,000. When the vehicle was actually requisitioned following adoption
of the budget, it was found that the original quoted price did not cover the spec-
ifications set forth by the Equipment Superintendent and the cost for one that
would was $70,115.
Robert Torbitt, Equipment Superintendent, does not recommend the purchase of the
type of vehicle that is available for the original quote, but thet the requisi-
tion be increased to $70,115 for one that does.
The 15 Cubic Yard Side Loader is used to pick up remote residential areas not
accessible with the larger vehicles, in the Verdemont area, Waterman Canyon Road,
etc. Vehicle #155 was purchased in 1975 and is currently being used in this capac-
ity. Due to its very poor mechanical condition it is no longer economically
feasible to operate.
The Director concurs with Mr. Torbitt's report and requests that the transfer be
approved prior to the bid expiration date.
