CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO -REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Stall Report
Subject:
Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino authorizing the
City Manager to execute a Vendor Service Agreement and the Finance Director, or her
designee, to issue a purchase order in the amount of $29,600 to Trueline for the repair and
resurfacing of the tennis courts and basketball courts at Norton and Blair Park.
Background:
The tennis courts at Norton and Blair Park are used for local tennis groups and daily lessons to
young players. The Basketball courts are well utilized at those locations, as well. Repairing
and resurfacing the courts will prolong the service life of the courts, and will lessen the need for
maintenance of those amenities.
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department prepared the appropriate
specifications and the Purchasing Division of the Finance Department published and furnished
Request for Proposal (FRP) documents to vendors. Contract bid documents were advertised in
the Sun Newspaper, San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce and City web site. Proposals were
opened and declared on January 24, 2008.
Bids were received from the following vendors:
Company City Bid
Trueline Corona $29,600.00
Taylor Tennis Courts, Inc. Anaheim $32,570.00
Malibu Pacific Tennis Courts, Inc. Westlake Village $33,999.00
Staff from the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department evaluated the bid
proposals. The bid from Trueline was the lowest responsible bid. Therefore, staff is
recommending award of a Vendor Service Agreement and purchase order to Trueline in the
amount of $29,600, with a contingency amount of $4,400, for the repair and resurfacing of the
tennis courts and basketball courts at Blair Park and Norton.
Financial Impact:
Funding in the amount of $34,000 is available in account no. 243-363-5504-7750 - CIP Project
No. PR08-01 (Resurface Tennis Courts at Norton & Blair Parks).
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.
