Description: Street Maintenance Finance: Council Notes: 1 7'Y6 2000-- foo Agenda Item No. ?, y 0 8' CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO — REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Subject: Authorization to establish 2-way stop control at the intersections of 28th Street at Fremontia Drive and 29th Street at Fremontia Drive. Background: The Traffic Engineering Section of the Development Services Department received a request from a citizen via the Council Office to evaluate the referenced intersections for 2- way stop control. Currently the intersections are uncontrolled. The citizens are concerned that increased traffic in the area has elevated the need for right-of-way control at these intersections. Staff evaluated the request and, upon an evaluation of the intersection operation, determined the State warrant for installation of 2-way stop signs at each of these intersections was met. The investigation further indicates that north and southbound traffic should be stopped at the intersection of 29th Street and Fremontia Drive and traffic for east and westbound traffic should be stopped at the intersection of 28th Street and Fremontia Drive. Staff, therefore, recommends that the attached Resolution be approved for establishing 2- way stop controls at the intersections of 28th Street at Fremontia Drive and 29th Street at Fremontia Drive. Financial Impact: The estimated cost of $1,000 for installing the new stop signs will come from Account No. 001-402-5111 (Street Maintenance). Recommendation: Adopt Resolution.
