MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS'
OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
October 20, 1986
Filed: Public Health-Ani..nnl Control;
Inc. Cities-San Bernardino;
Agree. 84-450
FROM: GEORGE R. PETTERSEN, M.D., M.P.H.
Director of Public Health
SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT WITH CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
No. 2 to Agreement 84-450
RECOMMENDATION: Approve amendment/~~.ec:t with the City of
San Bernardino to impound and dispose of stray animals.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION: The County of San Bernardino has
been contracting with the City of San Bernardino for many years.
The City provides animal shelter services for impounding and
disposing of stray animals and livestock found in unincorporated
and contracted areas of the County. This current amendment was
requested by the City of San Bernardino, and provides for an
extension of the term of the contract and an increase in the
impound fees for large animals. Approval of this contract
will allow continuation of impounding services as a supplement
to impounds at the County animal shelter in Devore. Currently,
the County impounds only occasional large animals at the City
shelter.
REVIEW BY OTHER AGENCIES: This contract has been reviewed and
approved by County Counsel.
FINANCIAL DATA: This amendment would increase the impound price
for livestock (e.g., horses, sheep, etc.) to a maximum of $12.50
per day for large animals. The current maximum is $4.00 per day.
Rates for other animals are unchanged. Expenditures are included
in the Department of Public Health's approved FY 1986-87 budget.
