Instead they have recommended that Program Coordinators and Directors attend various other available conferences. Because our Program Director, Betty Lewison has been in the field for many years, ACTION recommended that she should attend the National Volunteer Conference in Chicago. The goal of ACTION's training programs is to increase the director's knowledge and skills and to exchange information and problem solving strategies among project directors. The Chicago meeting will provide the environment and opportunity to realize these goals. Expenses of the conference will be born by the ACTION Program Budget under which we are currently operating. There will be no additional costs to be born by City funding. This should be a most productive conference for our Senior Companion Program Coordinator as it will give her access to those serving in Senior Companion Programs nationwide. Therefore, it is recommended that this request for out-of-state travel be approved. January 15, 1992 75-0264 o "'---.UI. . / I !O I CalIfornIa Stat.
