San Bernardino City Unifad School District

There's No Better Place To Learn
January 9, 1992
Mayor Bob Holcomb
Members, San Bernardino City council
300 North "D" Street
San Bernardino, CA 92418
Your Honor and Council Members:
I would like to express my appreciation for,. and support of, the
City of San Bernardino's Telecommunications Division. The service
this department provides to the community through local
television programming is immeasurable.
The school district in particular, has been afforded the
opportunity to showcase many of our fine programs to the larger
community through the Education Round Table and the several
other programming slots. The feedback we have received tells us
the community appreciates this service.
I fully understand the current economic climate and the necessity
for governmental agencies to streamline spending. The school
district is in a similar position. However, it is my hope that
the outstanding service provided by the Telecommunications
Division will be maintained. Our local programming is a cut above
that of other cities and I feel it would be detrimental to the
community to lose it.

the mayor gave his word to assist, the police are working with us.
We do not want the EQ1ice and the fire de!lart:1uen~ervices cut. There
are less officers, and firEmen serving the Citizens than ten years ago,

January, 1991
To: Mayor, City COlnlcil, City Adninistrator
As business people in hi.sh crime areas of San Bemardino, we are very
concerned about where you plan on making budeet cuts. Traditionally
politicians like to cut schools,. police and fire, this is una~table
to the ccttmJnity, this does not fulfill your obligation to the c~tizens
of San Bernardino.
We are "-'Or\d.ng along with the police to clean up Baseline in vicinity,
in order to save our businesses, maintain the tax base for the city,
At a meeting in Decanber, heldat the El Burrito Drive in, 771 W. Baseline
the mayor gave his word to assist, the police are working with us.
We do not want the lice and the fire d t services cut. There
are ess 0 ~cers, an ~ranen seI'lll.n8 at~zens t ten years ago,
and the population has alIoost doubled. Hore important crime, gangs,
and criminals have taken over many areas of our city, while those that
are supposed to be looking out for their consituents, have done little
or nothing:
.J;loes this make any sense at all? No, that is why we are writing this
letter. We the business people of San Bernardino, want our streets
safe for our custaners, our children, our husbands, wives and families.
KEEP OUR POLICE .AND FIRE DEPAIm1ENTS AT LEAST AT CURRENl' u:vEI.s....
Have you considered cutting each of the top five positions in the city
salary by lefl., no raises for ~ year, and there are always positions
that can be consolidated, the bureacratic systan always has positions
that do. not earn their salary. Look to your top level assistance for
