CITY OF SAN BE~RDINO - REQUESTOOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
A request was received froll Jill Adlllls, one of the new owners of 1542 North "E"
street (a 16 unit apartJlent building which they are totally rellodeling) and 531
W. Evans Street, (a single fllllily residence IlDd lot which they plllD to use for
off-street parking), to vacate the North 130 feet of the North/South alley lying
West of "E" street between Magnolia Avenue IlDd EvIlDS street. Both 1Ir. Prillo
Aguilar, who lives in a single fllllily residence at the Southwest corner of EvIlDS
street IlDd "E" street (the lot to the North of the apartment building) IlDd Bob
Wussler, the Executive Director of the AaericllD Red Cross (offices on the lot
South of the aparblent building) have written Real Property staff letters showing
their agreellent with the alley vacation. These property owners represent 100!.
of those owners who adjoin the portion of the alley under consideration for
vacation. The petitioner has deposited the required $375.00, which represents
one-half of the total fee of $750.00. The reJlllining $375.00 will be due after
the investigative proceedings.
When the North portion of the alley is vacated, the owners would then fence the
vacated section of the alley for their own use. This vacation would alleviate
several proble..s: 1. It would provide off-street parking for the residents of
the apartJlent bui lding. At the present tiae there is no off-street parking -
only along "E" street IlDd EvIlDS street. 2. The vacation would also cut down on
the loitering, littering IlDd vandalisll in the alley which is .very prevalent
throughout the area.
staff hereby reco..ends Authorization to Proceed with the proposed vacation IlDd
the approval of PlllD No. 8600.

N. "E" Street which is the third lot south of the
South-West corner of "E" and Evans. We are in total
agreement with the alley vacation of the alley behind our

little safer for our employees and visitors to park behind
our bUilding. Please vote to vacate the alley behind our

Dea~ Anne:
I own the p~ope~ty located at 1544 N. "E" St~eet which is on
the South-West co~ne~ of "E" and Evans. I am in total
ag~eement with the alley vacation of the alley behind my
p~ope~ty. It would stop the d~ive th~ough t~affic and make
ou~ location safe~ fo~ all the p~ope~ty owne~s. Because of
the alley I have g~affiti on the back of my house and a
b~oken window due to vandals. With the alley vacated this
would not happen. Please make ou~ home- a safe~ place to
live by vacating the alley. Thank you fo~ you~ time.
