CITY OF SAN BEAt>ARDINO - REQUES,oOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Assemblyman Jerry Eaves has introduced a bill which would
enable the city of San Bernardino to sell surplus Patton Park
land. At least one member of the Council has expressed
opposition to the bill and has asked Assemblyman Eaves to
withdraw. The Mayor requested that this matter be taken
before the full Council for a vote.
The entire Patton property consists of 80 acres. Twenty-
three acres have been developed into Speicher Park. Due to
its proximity to a freeway offramp, the remaining 57 acres
have great commercial potential. At a conservative price of
$5.00 per square foot, the City could realize $12,414,000
from the sale. In addition, the commercial development of
the property would result in increased sales tax revenue.
Adoption of the bill does not require the sale of 'the
property; it merely gives the City another option.
