STAFF REPORT The City received a request from Southern California Edison for a Grant of Easement over City-owned property located on the North side of 21st Street, East of Valencia Avenue. (portion of Perris Hill Park). This easement is needed by the Edison company in order to "underground" the existing power lines and the work is being done at the request of the City. This project is a joint effort and the construction costs will be shared by Southern California Edison and the City of San Bernardino. Under Rule 20-B of the Public utilities Commission, the City pays the difference in the cost between relocating the overhead lines and installing the ~ines underground. Southern California Edison will pay the remainder. There are some typical Edison restrictions and covenants within the easement. but after review and a visit to the site with Southern California Edison staff, City staff feels that none will unduly affect the City's property or rights. It is hereby recommended that the attached resolution be approved authorizing and directing the execution of said Grant of Easement. A copy of said easement is attached. URGENCY CLAUSE: The final alignment and scope of the easement were not decided upon until Friday, August 2. 1991 at a field meeting with Soutllern California Edison Staff. FOR THE UNDERGROUNDING OF ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINES OVER CITY-GWNED PROPERTY LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 21ST STREET. EAST OF VALENCIA (PORTION OF PERRIS HILL PARK). BE IT RESOLVED BY THE KAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino hereby execute a Grant of Easement to Southern California Edison Company, a corporation, for underground transmission of electrical energy and appurtenant facilities. SECTION 2. That said Grant of Easement referred to herein, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A", and is hereby referred to and made a part hereof as fully as though set out at length herein, is hereby approved. SECTION 3.
