Canam Metal Products, Inc., is located at 1795 Riverview Drive, _in tire Southeast
Industrial Park Redevelopment Project Area. The metal cabinet manufacturing
company has been in business in San Bernardino for nine (9) years, and currently
employs eighty-one (81) employees. Over the past five (5) years, Canam has
trained and placed over one-hundred-fifty (150) San Bernardino Job Training
Partnership Act (JTPA) program participants.
In accordance with our Employment Linkage Program, Canam has entered into a
First Source Hiring Agreement with the San Bernardino Employment and Training
Agency (SBBTA), for the establishment of ten (10) new positions. The attached
Employment Linkage Agreement would require Canam to hire through SBBTA, ten (10)
unemployed, disadvantaged San Bernardino residents for nine (9) continuous
months. Following completion of continuous employment for nine (9) months, the
employer will receive $1,000 per position. The maximum benefit available would
be $10,000.
On June 20, 1991, the Redevelopment Committee met and recommended approval.
Staff recommends adoption of the form motion.
