June, 1990 -- Allocation of $8,000 approved in CDBG 1990/91 Budget,
under Accounts No. 121-544-52544-00000-0014 & 0046.
Recommended motion:
That the plans for installation of a tubular steel fence at the Johnson
Hall Community Center, in accordance with Plan No. 8482, be
approved, and the Director of Public Works/City Engineer authorized
to advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
Plans for the installation of tubular steel fencing at
the Johnson Hall Community Center have been prepared by the
Engineering Division and the project is ready to be advertised
for bids. The project consists of installing 213 lineal feet of
6' tubular steel fencing in order to control illegal drug acti-
vities.
Below is an estimate of the total project cost:

Amounts of $4,000 have been allocated in the 1990/91 CDBG
Budget, under Accounts No. 121-544-52544-00000-0014 & 0046, to
finance the costs incurred for installing this fence. The De-
partment of Parks and Recreation has advised that supplemental
funds in the amount of $2,800 will be provided from CDBG funds
to fully finance the total estimated cost of this project.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authority
granted to advertise for bids.
URGElIICY CLAUSE:
This fence is urgently needed to help control a pressing problem
with undesirables congregating in the area adjacent to Johnson
Hall to engage in illegal drug activity. This problem is parti-
cularly prevalent in the summer months.
