Committee for funding assistance
and waiver of fees associated
with 4th July celebration at
Seccombe Lake Park.
Synopsis of Previous Council action:
3/25/91 -- Ways and Means recommended approval of $21,930
$10,000 from FY 90/91 budget and the remainder
($11,900) from FY 91/92 budget. Committee also
recommended approval of a waiver of fees in
an amount of $8,516 in in-kind City services.
Recommended motion:
That the request from the 4th July Committee for funding assistance
in the amount of $21,900 to offset costs connected with 1991 4th July
celebration at Seccombe Lake Park be approved; and further, that
expenses incurred by the use of City forces, equipment, facilities
and Police Personnel be waived.

STAFF REPORT
The city of San Bernardino, in conjunction with the Inland
Empire symphony, is conducting its 1991 4th of July community
celebration at seccombe Lake Park. The event will be free to
the public and will be conducted from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Activities will consist of group and family picnicking, old
fashioned games, food and beverage booths, a pops concert by
the San Bernardino symphony and a fireworks show. /'
This event is expected to attract several thousand visitors
and promises to be an exciting community experience.
~"The 4th of July committee requested $21,900.to offset their.
. cos~~ The total cost of the event is $47,400. $17,500 has
~n received in the form of donations from other funding
. sources. The ways and Means Committee was supportive of the
event and funding the request of the 4th of July committee in
the amount of $21,900. Based on an evaluation of available
revenues in the cultural development fee fund through June
30, 1991, the ways and Means Committee recommended approval
of the allocation of civic and promotional funds in an amount
of $10,000 to help defray costs associated with this event.
The balance of funding in the amount of $11,900 would be paid
