CIT~ OF SAN BBRNB.DINO - REQUIEST Fa COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
A request was received for a review of the intersection
at Business Center Drive and Commercenter East, for possible in-
stallation of stop signs and parking restrictions.
The request was based upon the fact that cars are con-
stantly parking adjacent to the intersection, which creates a
sight restriction for motorists entering the intersection.
A Traffic Engineering survey has been conducted of this
intersection, with the following findings:
Parked vehicles and landscaping mounds reduce the
safe approach speed, to the intersection, below the
acceptable level.
Warrants for stop signs are satisfied for northbound
traffic.
To help alleviate these situations, the Traffic
Engineering staff recommends the following actions:
Prohibit parking on the south side of Business Center
Drive, between 100 feet east of Commercenter East and
100 feet west of Commercenter East.
Prohibit parking on Commercenter East, between
Business Center Drive and 100 feet south of Business
Center Drive.
Install a Stop Sign on Commercenter East at the
approach to Business Center Drive.
This matter was reviewed by the
Committee, at their December 12, 1990,
concurred wi th Traffic Engineering
recommendations.
Traffic Safety Advisory
meeting. The Committee
staff's findings and
Since all the adjacent businesses provide sufficient off-
street parking for their employees and patrons, the parking
restriction will not adversely affect parking demand in the
area.
We recommend that the afforementioned recommendations be
approved.
