Formal contract procedures were followed for the 3 new street
sweepers which were purchased in March 1989. The Public
Services Director in conjunction with the Purchasing Agent
and the Fleet Manager developed the appropriate bid
specifications (Bid No. F-89-21) and bids were publicly
opened and declared on December 1989. The successful bidder
was the Nixon-Egli Equipment Company which bid $316,524.45
for the 3 new street sweepers. Resolution No. 89-60 dated
March 13, 1989 awarded the contract for the furnishing and
delivery of the 3 street sweepers. Attached is a letter from
the Nixon-Egli Equipment Company indicating that they will
furnish additional street sweepers at the same price quoted.
in bid no. F-89-21.
As you know, a portion of the street sweeping program was
incorporated into the Refuse Division budget this fiscal
year. Due to the increase in awareness of the street
sweeping program and the need to enhance the street sweeping
effort citywide, it is recommended that the Mayor and Common
Council authorize staff to proceed with the purchase of these
3 street sweepers at this time. The delivery of the street
sweepers is anticipated to be anywhere from 120 to 150 days
from notification to proceed.
The street sweeping budget for fiscal year 1989/90 includes
$72,000 !or lease/purchase financing for 3 street sweepers.
The lease/purchase financing for the sweepers will be
coordinated by the Purchasing Agent and submitted to the
Mayor and Council for approval at a later date.
