Drive and. to post signs has been received from adjoining

A traffic study determined that the critical speed on Piedmont

speed limit be established on Piedmont Drive between Palm Avenue
and Seine Avenue.
This recommendation was presented to the Traffic Safety Advisory
Committee at their March 8, 1989, meeting. The Committee
approved the recommendation to establish a 35 mile per hour speed
zone on Piedmont Drive, between Palm Avenue and Seine Avenue.
An ordinance establishing a
Drive between Palm Avenue and
Council on June 19, 1989,
testimony from the residents.
35 m.p.h speed limit for Piedmont
Seine Avenue was considered by the
but not adopted, after hearing
Piedmont Street under Section 22352 and 21357 of the Vehicle Code
is automatically 25 m.p.h. and the Council may direct Engineering
to post the area with speed restriction signs of 25 m.p.h. Even
though, Piedmont Drive is posted, it cannot be enforced by radar,
since the speed limit is not based on a traffic study. But the
25 m.p.h. speed limit may be enforced by other means.
URGENCY CLAUSE
Council requested this motion for the July 5, 1989 agenda.
