6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
It CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO THAT:

SECTION ONE:
That Section -1-,

7 Resolution No. ~ be ..ended to read as follows, to-wit:

SECTION -1-: VACATION - Every employee ot the City of
9 San Bernardino (exclusive of those employees under the Board of
10 Water Commissioners and those employees under the Free Public
I
11 Library Board) shall be allowed vacation as follows:

When any such employee shall have completed one (1) full
13 I year of employment for the City ot San Bernardino, he shall be
14 allowed vacation of two (2) calendar weeks per annum.
1~ When any such employee shall have completed tifteen (15)
16 full years of employment for the City ot San Bernardino, he shall
17 at the beginning of the next succeeding calendar year be allowed
18 thereafter, three (3) calendar weeks of annual vacation.
19 When any such employee shall have completed twenty-tive
20 (25) full years of employment tor the City ot San Bernardino, he
21 shall at the beginning ot the next succeeding calendar year be
22 allowed thereafter, tour (4) calendar weeks of annual vacation.
23 Wherever the term "years of employment" appears herein, i
24 shall be deemed to include all service for the City of San Bernar-
2e dino including service tor the Board of Water C01ll1llissioners and
26 service tor the Free Public Library Board.
27 No vacations or portions thereot shall be cumulative and
28 used in any subsequent year.
29 No vacation trom anyone year shall run consecutively
30 with the vacation of the subsequent year. A space of three or more
31 months must elapse between vacations.

Employees shall not be permitted to work in their City

Vacation period to which any employee anall be entitled
4. shall be assigned by each Head of Department. Said assignment to

When an employee resigns or otherwise leaves the service
7 of the City prior to the next anniversary date of his employment,
S and has been previously granted a vacation with pay in the calendar
9 year of such next anniversary date, then such vacation time earned,
10 based as follows:
11 a. Service of I to 14 years inclusive, one vacation day for each
12 month of service from his previous year anniversary date, to the
13 date of leaving service. Such adjustment to be made in the
l' final pay for the last two weeks of service.
1~ b. Service of 15 to 24 years inclusive, one and one half vacation
16 days for each month of service from his previous year anniver-
17 sary date, to the date of leaving service. Such adjustment to
18 be made in the final pay for the last two weeks of service.
19 c. Service of 25 years or over, two vacation days for each month
20 of service from his previous year anniversary date, to the date
21 of leaving service. Such adjustment to be made in the final
22 pay for the last two weeks of service.

24 The following days shall be holidays for the purpose of

Thanksgiving Day

All employees with the
29 Department and Fire Department shall be allowed the above holidays

Members ot the Police Department and Fire Depar~nt
. shall be allowed compensatory time off for the above holidays at
D full pay, when such holidays ooc\l1' within the regular assigned
8 working period; and such compensatory time off shall be added to
7 the regular annual vacation period. Holidays as set forth shall be
8 Icredited subsequent to July 1st, 19$3, and the tirst ettective
9 istarting compensatory time ott for such holidays shall be during
10 the 1954 calendar year.
11 No oUll1ulative holiday time in anyone calendat' year shall
12 be used in a subsequent cal endar year.
13 SECTION 11 . OTHER IEA.VE OF ABSENCE

14 I All employees of the Fire Department shall be allowed

17 cUll1ulated from one month to another.
18 A.ll employees of the Police Department shall be allowed
19 I 2 days off duty for each 5 days of actual work. Said time off to
20 I be taken within each month but limited to 9 days off in anyone
21 I month. However days off in anyone month shall not be consecutive
22 with days otf in the preceeding month. Time off not to be CUll1U-
23 lated trom one month to another.
24 J.n emplo,.ee Who shall enter the armed forces ot the
25 United States during war or national emergenc,., as declared by the
26 President or the Congress of the United States, shall be entitled
27 to a leave ot absence without pay during such servioe and tor a
28 period of ninety days thereafter. Every such employee and/or
29 officer returning to the City within the time herein specified,
30 and who has been honorably discharged from such service shall be
31 reinstated without loss of status or seniorit,., provided they are
32 not physioal1y or mentally incapacitated from performing the duties

1 or said orrice or position.

That all persons appointed to till such positions during
5 war or such national emergency. /lb.all be temporary appointees only.

Any employee who is absent rrom his duties on account of
I being called to service in the armed forces or the United States
6 shall be entitled to two calendar weeks earned vacation as may have
7 been earned based upon the anniversary date or one rull year of ser-
a vice to the errective date ot his leave of absence; and in addition
9 shall receive two calendar weeks vacation allowance.

SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall become errective
