STAFF REPORT
In November, 1988, the Council adopted a series of
resolutions making full-time city employees eligible to
enroll in PERS Basic Health Plans. In December, Ms. Diana
Davies, Public Agency Coordinator for PERS' Health Benefits
Division, advised city staff that an additional resolution
needed to be adopted to permit part-time elected
Councilmembers and Water Board members to be eligible to
enroll in the PERS Basic Health Plans.
On January 3, 1989, the Council adopted such a resolution,
however, Ms. Davies has since advised staff that the
resolution only covers Councilmembers and Water Board members
who are PERS retirement system members. since not all
Councilmembers are PERS retirement system members and Water
Board members are not eligible to be retirement system
members, the attached resolution must be adopted for those
people to be eligible to enroll in the PERS Basic Health
Plans. This resolution is effective February 1, 1989.
