Synopsis of Previous Council action:
09-08-87 Resolution No. 87-314 adopted authorizing execution of
Utilities Agreement No. 8384 with State.
09-08-87 Finding made that relocation of sewers is needed for
health and safety reasons.
09-21-87 Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise
for bids.
11-02-87 Resolution No. 87-393 adopted, m~arrling a contract for
the low bid price of $422,859.00.
09-19-88 Change Order No. One approv<'l". authorizing the Contractor
to perform additional undtrground relocations increasing
the contract price by $7,344.82, from $422,859.00 to
$430,203.82.

That Change Order No. TWO to the contract with Bonadiman-
McCain, Inc., for the relocation of sewer facilities for
construction of Route 30, from Highland Avenue to uHu
Street, in accordance with Plan No. 7116, be approved;
authorizing the Contractor to perform additional under-
ground relocations for a net increase in the contract price
of $22,516.13, from $430,203.82 to $452,719.95.
That the work performed by the Contractor be approved &
accepted; and that final payment be authorized at the ex-
piration of the lien period.

The relocation of sewer facilities is being performed
under an agreement with Caltrans in order to facilitate the con-
struction of the Route 30 extension.
During construction,

The cost for extra work, authorized by Change Order No.
Two (due to plan revisions and unidentified underground util-
ities) is $22,516.13, as determined on a time and material basis
in accordance with Section 3-3 of the Standard SpeGification~.
The total estimated project cost includes an amount of
$65,641.00 for contingencies, which can be used to finance the
additional costs incurred for this extra work.
Caltrans is reimbursing the City for all costs incurred
under this contract. The state has been invoiced for 90% of the
project cost, including Change Order No. One, and has remitted
to date, 68% of the construction costs.
We recommend that Change Order No. Two be approved.
All work was satisfactorily completed as of 12-13-88.
The project was awarded for the low bid price of
$422,859.00. Contract Change Orders No's One and Two increased
the contract price to $452,719.95. Due to the actual quantities
underrunning the estimated quantities in the bid documents for
various minor items, the actual final contract price is
$443,095.04, which is 9% below the budgeted construction funds.
We recommend that the work be approved and accepted, and
that final payment be authorized at the expiration of the lien
period.
