At the last meeting of the Housing Committee, staff was requested to
provide a status report of the Phase I analysis of the Mobilehome
Conversion Program. The issue arose during the course of prior
discussions concerning the development of a City-sponsored mobilehome
psrk.
During the course of these discussions, anecdotal information was
provided to the Committee regarding park vacancy rates and general
overall conditions. Additionally, staff cited several other reasons as
to why it would be appropriate for the Committee to delay making
recommendations to the Commission concerning development of a
mobilehome park until the above referenced Phase I analysis is complete.
We have recently received from DeAnza/London a report on its activities
in ten (10) parks since DeAnza/London began its work on March 1, 1993.
It is important to note that with respect to the ten (10) facilities
reflected 'in the attached schedule, there exists a potential of 118
alternate housing sites, which are comprised of a mix of both vacant
spaces readily suitable for home placement and existing housing stock
readily available for acquisition.
DeAnza/London representatives present at the Committee meeting provided
additional information and answered questions from the Committee had
regarding the relationship between the Phase I Mobilehome Park
Conversion Analysis and the development of a City-sponsored mobilehome
park.
Staff recommends adoption of the form motion.
