STAFF REPORT
AUTHORIZATION FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL
FOR SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM COORDINATOR
TO ATTEND THE 1993 NATIONAL COMMUNITY
SERVICE CONFERENCE IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA
ACTION, the Federal Government Office under which the
Senior companion Program falls, has opted not to hold
their own training conferences in the state this year.
Instead they have recommended that Program Coordinators
and Directors attend various other available conferences.
Because our Program Director, Betty Lewis has been in
the field for many years, ACTION recommended that she
should attend the National Community Service Conference
in Orlando, Florida. The goal of ACTION's training
programs is to increase the director's knowledge and
skills and to exchange information and problem solving
strategies among project directors. The Orlando meeting
will provide the environment and opportunity to realize
these goals.
Expenses of the conference will be born by the ACTION
Program Budget under which we are currently operating.
There will be no additional costs to be born by City
funding.
