CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Staff Report
SUBJECT:
Authorization to Proceed and J'lan approval - proposed vacation of a 10-foot public utility
easement located between 20 Street and 2151 Street, west of Kenwood Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
The present owner of the property, Donboyd Leasing, Inc., is in the process of planning for the
construction of a 5,012 square foot building located at 399 E. 2151 Street. The building will be an
addition to an existing 5,994 square foot medical facility. The additional building is proposed to
be located on the east side of the property over an existing public utility easement. On behalf of
the property owner, Adkan Engineers is requesting that the City vacate the existing easement so
the public utilities and City sewer can be relocated in order to comply with the proposed plan.
The owner will then grant a new easement to the City for the relocation of the sewer.
The general location of this proposed vacation is shown on the Vicinity Map, and details are
shown on Plan No. 10514. The applicant has paid the first half of the required $1,000 processing
fee. If authorization to proceed is given, all affected City departments and utility companies will
be contacted for the existence of any facilities or conflicts. Adkan Engineers will coordinate a
design for the relocation of utilities requiring easements in that area with the respective utility
companies for their existing facilities. Although requests for reservation of easements will need
to be reserved in the Resolution ofIntention and the Resolution Ordering Vacation, it is
anticipated that only temporary easements will be reserved since all utilities will be relocated.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None. Applicant has paid the first half of the $1,000 processing fee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that authorization to proceed with the proposed vacation be given, and that
Plan No. 10514 be approved.
