Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
On November 5,2007, the Mayor and Common Council received and filed the City wide non-safety
Classification and Compensation report from Reward Strategy Group (RSG).
On December 19, 2005, the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2005-428, a Resolution
amending Resolution No. 6413, Sections Ten through Fourteen, entitled in part a Resolution establishing
a basic compensation plan. .. (General, Mid-Management, & Confidential & Management Units)

Subiect:
Resolution of the City of San Bernardino amending Resolution No. 6413, Sections Ten, Eleven,
Twelve & Fourteen entitled in part "A Resolution. . . establishing a basic compensation plan
. . ."; by updating information codifYing prior council actions (General, Mid-Management and
ConfidentiallManagement Units).

On November 5,2007, the Mayor and Common Council received and filed the City wide non-
safety Classification and Compensation report from Reward Strategy Group (RSG).
Each employee will be placed in the new range that provides a minimum of 5% to their current
pay. Employees who are in positions that have been recommended to receive less than 5% will
receive the increase proposed. Step/merit increase dates will remain unchanged.
On December 19,2005, the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2005-428, a
Resolution establishing a General, Mid-Management, and ConfidentiallManagement employee
compensation and benefits plan. . . The benefits plan included a salary range adjustment that
moved the entire pay scale upward. The effective date for General Unit and
ConfidentiallManagement employees was July I, 2006. Mid-Management employees were
effective on January 1,2006.
The requested action is to update the salary resolutions to include the above salary increases and
range adjustments.
Financial Impact:
There is no additional financial impact to update the respective salary resolutions. The costs
associated with the Classification and Compensation study were approved at the November 5,
2007 Mayor and Common Council meeting.
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.
