Environmental assessment of possible contaminants in the soil or groundwater is needed to finalize these negotiations. Southern Pacific solicited proposals for an expanded Phase II study of the subject property and has submitted three proposals for Agency review and approval. Based upon recommendations from the Agency's environmental consultant and staff review of the proposals, the proposal submitted by ERM West, Inc. appears to be the most compatible with the stadium project. The Agency will recommend that Southern Pacific retain ERM West to conduct the expanded Phase II assessment. In order to make this a joint effort, Southern Pacific is requesting that the Agency up front half of the environmental assessment cost, approximately $80,000. The Agency share of the cost will then be deducted from the final purchase price. Staffreco ,-ends adoption of the form motion. ~ , ,..../ i TIMOTHYC.
