These funds are to be used in conjunction with another HUD program, the Section 108 Loan Program, which staff is currently preparing an application for financial assistance. The combination of funds available from both programs is anticipated to be $2,639,000 which will be used for the revitalization of the 40th Street Shopping Center. In order to meet the citizen participation requirements established by HUD, a public hearing must be held to obtain views and comments from citizens. Due to the narrow timeframe for the submission of the BUD 108 application to HUD, a public hearing must be held on October 27, 1994 at 9:00 a.m. The Section 108 application must be submitted to HUD by October 30, 1994. Between the period offirst notification of the grant in October 11,1994 and the October 27,1994 anticipated public hearing, staff will be intensively working with the 40th Street property owners to obtain their fmancial commitment to service the loan. Receipt of the grant is contingent on timely submission to HUD and a defmitive acceptable source of the loan repayment. Based on the foregoing, staff recommends adoption of the form motion. !{c~ ~j~;-f ~ KENNETH J.
