STAFF REPORT
September 19, 1988; the Mayor and Common Council authorized the implementation
of one time per week refuse collection and a $7.00 per month charge for each
additional 90 gallon refuse container. A public hearing to approve this is
requested as soon as possible.

Action
The Department of Public Services Refuse Residential Section was authorized to
implement one time per week refuse pickup in the five (51 locations listed on
Attachment "A" and the seven (71 mobile home parks listed on Attachment "B".
Also, a review of the program is to be conducted in six months; assistance is to
be provided to the handicapped and elderly with medical verification and considera-
tion be given to the tree trimming problem.
The Council authorized a $7.00 per month charge for additional refuse containers.

- REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
For budget year 1988-89, the Department of Public Services/Residential
Refuse Section proposed the purchase of three (3) automated side-load-
ing refuse vehicles. The Mayor and Council approved the purChase and
we are now awaiting delivery.
July 5, 1988, the department prepared a proposal to incorporate the
side-loaders into the current schedule, a copy of which is attached.
The department is requesting authorization to implement one time per
week pickup in the five (5) residential areas listed on Attachment "A"
and the seven (7) mobile home parks listed on Attachment "B", approxi-
mately December 1, 1988, upon successful delivery of 3 - automated
side-loading refuse trucks and 8,000 - 90 gallon containers.

Side-loaders with once a-week service.
MONDAY WARD 5 VERDEMONT AREA
From Kendall Drive north to Northpark BLVD
From Little Mountain Drive west to the City Limits.
TUESDAY
WARD 4 EAST HIGHLAND AVENUE AREA
From Seine Street west to Victoria Avenue
From Highland avenue north to City Limits.
WEDNESDAY WARD 2 EAST WATERMAN AVENUE AREA & NAFB
From Waterman avenue east to Ceder avenue.
From Baseline avenue north to Highland avenue
This is to include the Norton Air Force Base Housing-
THURSDAY WARD 6 WEST Mt VERNON AREA
From Mt Vernon west to California Street.

In the proposal to incorporate two side-loader
routes into the Residential twice aweek service
the following recommendations have been made.
1. To decrease the number of the residential
twice aweek service from 18 routes to lS ~ear-l
oader routes. this is to include the addition of
two side-loader routes to service certain desi-
gnated areas with once aweek service.
2. to service the Mobil Home Parks once aweek.
3. To service Norton Air Force Base housing once
aweek.
