Synopsis of Previous Council action:
12-12-88 --- The Ways and Means Committee recommended the sale of City owned
properties that are not needed by the City.
Recommended motion:
That the Real Propery Section be authorized to proceed with the sale of
certain City owned property as listed in the report of properties available
for sale, prepared by the Director of Public Works/ City Engineer, dated
November 2, 1988.

STAFF REPORT
At their meeting of December 12, 1988, the Ways and Means Committee recommended that
certain properties owned by the City of San Bernardino, be sold. These properties
represent either surplus right of way or properties that appear to be no longer needed
by the City.
Attached is a listing of those properties, prepared by the Director of Publ;ic
Works/City Engineer. If authorization is given, the Real Property Section of the
Public Works Department will contact all interested City Departments for comments
relative to the proposed sale of City owned land, and a report of their comments will
be submitted for final approval of sale.

This property was 1 eased to the Boy Scouts, but is now
vacant. The building that is situated on the property
appears to be substandard and is situated in a
residential neighborhood. There is a built- in swillDling
pool to the rear of the property, which has been filled
with dirt and sand. Their is some playground equipment in
the sand area. The value of this property lies mainly in
land value.
2. (068) 181 S. "G" Street
Building size: 8,272 s.t.
Land size: 17,300 s.t.
Value: 5 100,000

Property currently rented to Garden State Recycling on a
month to month basis. As recommended by the ways and
means committee, and authorized by the Mayor and Common
Council, a termination of rental was sent to the lessee,
ettective 12-31-88. There has been some damage to the
building caused by the lessee. After the property is
vacated, the City will still have the responsibility of
removing the underground fuel tanks still situated on the
property.

This property is the site of a former fire station and is
currently on a month to month rental with the San
Bernardino County Sheriff Search and Rescue Team. It is
reco..ended that the County be contacted for negotiations
on the possible sale of this property to the County.

Pennsylvania Ave (Vacant Lots).

These two triangular shaped parcels are "surplus right-
of-way" (although they were never actually dedicated as
right of way), acquired for the Rialto Avenue grade
separation, east of Rancho Ave. These two small parcels
apparently serve no use to the City and should be sold.
5. (090 Del Rosa, South of Eureka (Vacant Lot)

Thi s property was donated to the City for Library
purposes on the condition that if sold, all proceeds are
to go to the Library. This property is below grade,
making sewer hook-up to the sewer main under Del Rosa
unfeasible, and will affect the marketability of this
property. The City has put this parcel on the market
recently, but no bids were received.
6. (134) Garner Street. at Olive St. (Vacant Lot)

14,164 s.f.
Value:

This City acquired this property as a gift, and has no
apparent plans for use. The parcel is a vacant lot and is
situated in a residential neighborhood.
