2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDI-
NANCE N0. 858 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MAINTE-
3 NANCE OF THE CITY CEMETERY"; AND INCREASING THE ~MBERSHIP OF
4 AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CEMETERY COMMISSION.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLIAWS:
6 SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 858 Section Two is hereby amended
7 to read as follows:
8 "SECTION TWO: For the purpose of caring for and maintaining
9 said Pioneer Cemetery, a Cemetery Commission is hereby establish-
10 ed which shall be composed of nine members whose term of office
11 shall be for six years, except that the term of office of five
12 commissioners, as appointed under the provisions hereof, shall
13 expire on the first day of June, 1923, and the term of two of
14 such commissioners, as appointed under the provisions hereof,
15 shall expire on the first day of June, 1925, and the term of two
16 of such commissioners, as appointed under the provisions hereof,
17 shall expire on the first day of June, 1927; and thereafter the
18 terms of such commissioners shall be for six (6) years,"
19 SECTION 2: Ordinance No. 858 Section Three is hereby amend-
20
ed to read as follows:
21 "SECTION THREE: Two members of the Commission shall be
22 appointed by the Mayor, Seven members of the Commission shall
23 be appointed by the Mayor upon the recommendation of each council
24 man of a nominee who shall be a resident of his ward. The ap-
25 pointment of each member of the Commission shall be subject to
26 the apoval of the Mayor and Common Council. Such commissioners
27 shall serve without compensation except as hereinafter provided."

SECTION 3. One of the purposes of the foregoing amendments
29
is to provide a commissioner from each ward of the City and the
30
appointments shall be made in such order that the appointments
31
upon recommendation of each councilman shall first be made,

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective and opera=
1 tive on June 1, 19710

3 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Ber-
