STAFF REPORT
ProDosed Uti1itv Underllronndina on South "E" Street from
Hunts Lane to McKav Drive
The Commission previously approved $1 million in tax allocation bond
proceeds for the widening of the South "E" Street bridge. Subsequent
to this action, San Bernardino Association of Governments allocated
$4.2 million to this project, allowing the Agency to reduce its
contribution from $1 million to $200,000.
As a part of the bridge widening project, certain utilities must be
undergrounded. Attached is a memorandum from the Director of Public
Works/City Engineer to the Mayor regarding Southern California Edison's
plans in this regard. To complete the undergrounding of the referenced
seventeen (17) poles will cost approximately $20,510.
Based upon the Commission's previous funding action for this project,
it is appropriate for the Commission to consider allocating $20,510 of
the $200,000 encumbered for this project.
Staff recommends adoption of the form motion.

Proposed Utility Undergrounding - South wEw
Street, from7un Lane to McKay Drive

---------------------------------------------------------------
Attached, for your reference, is a draft proposal from Southern
California Edison Company, relative to a proposed Rule 20-B
underground project on South "E" Street.
About 17 poles would be undergrounded by this project. The cost
to the City will be $20,510. Edison will be absorbing a con-
siderable portion of total actual cost.
Representatives from Edison have verbally advised us that the
City's cost for relocating their facilities to clear the
widening of the South "En Street Bridge would be about $10,000.
Therefore, the net cost to the City for the Rule 20-B under-
grounding project would be approximately $10,510.
About $200,000 in bond proceeds have been allocated to
supplement the $4.2 Million from SANBAG, for the bridge widening
project. It appears that the undergrounding could be financed
from these funds.
Please advise if you
will request Edison
