Staff Report
SUBJECT:
Authorization to Proceed and Approval of Plan No. 12171 - Proposed vacation of an east-west
alley east-west alley, northerly of Little League Drive and east of Magnolia Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
On March 27, 2007, an application was received from Hopkins Real Estate Group, c/o Eli
Wendell requesting the vacation of an east-west alley, northerly of Little League Drive and east
of Magnolia Avenue. Hopkins Real Estate Group has requested the vacation of this east-west
alley due to a development project (Verdemont Shopping Center) that is proposed to be built on
property adjacent to the alley. The alley is located on parcel number 0261-181-11 which is
owned by the developer of the proposed commercial project. The alley is unimproved and is not
being used for public access. A map showing the general vicinity is attached as Exhibit "A", and
Plan No. 12171 showing the details of the proposed vacation is attached as Exhibit "8".
If authorization to proceed is given, all city departments, utility companies and affected property
owners will be notified to determine if any conflicts exist. The findings will need to be made
that the proposed vacation of this east-west alley, northerly of Little League Drive and east of
Magnolia Avenue, is no longer needed for public right-of-way.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None. The petitioner has'paid the first half of the processing fee of$IOOO. Once the
investigative proceedings are complete, the second half of the processing fee of $1 000 will be
paid.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that authorization to proceed with the proposed vacation is given and that Plan
No. 12171 be approved.
