CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Staff Report
Subject
A resolution authorizing the execution of piggyback purchase orders to Crest Chevrolet
for various vehicles to be utilized by various departments.
BACKGROUND
The City of San Bernardino Mayor and Council adopted Resolution 2001-74 on April 16,
2001 for the purchase of various vehicles in accordance of Bid Request F-01-48A.
Item #002 of the bid request was awarded to Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino for the
purchase offive 2002 Full Size Y. Ton Pick Up Trucks and Item #003 was also awarded
to Crest Chevrolet for three 2002 % Ton Pick Up Trucks. More than one bid response
was received. Notices were received from Crest Chevrolet informing the City of the
opportunity to purchase additional model year vehicles at the same bid prices of
$16,339.84 plus tax for the Y. Ton Truck and $20,603.38 plus tax for each % Ton Truck,
see Attachment 1 and 2. Section 3.04.010, paragraph B.2 of the Municipal Code allows
an exemption for purchases competitively bid within one year, for which more than one
bid was received, and the vendor has established a set price.
The vehicles to be replaced are listed below and are considered an economic burden to
maintain in this capacity due to excessive age and/or mileage of vehicles. Most
replacement parts for repairs are no longer available or hard to find for these older
vehicles. These vehicles will be placed in surplus for auction.
