Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
The Council has authorized the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department to submit an application to
the County of San Bernardino for the administration of the Senior Nutrition Program since 1977.
Recommended Motion:
That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department Director be authorized to apply for and administer a
grant in the amount of $ 20,000 from the County of San Bernardino Department of Aging and Adult Services to
conduct outreach programs in support of the Senior Nutrition Program and other supportive services for seniors.

AUTHORIZATION FOR THE DIRECTOR
OF PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY
SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR
AND ADMINISTER A GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $ 20,000 FROM THE COUNTY
OF SAN BERNARDINO DEPARTMENT OF AGING
AND ADULT SERVICES TO CONDUCT OUTREACH
PROGRAMS IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY'S
SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM AND OTHER
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR SENIORS.
The San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services is soliciting for the Grant
Year July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998 to operate supportive services and services to the frail
for persons 60 years of age and older.
These supportive services will include, outreach interventions for the purpose of identifying
potential clients and their use of services and benefits, transportation services, nutrition
education, exercise/physical fitness, recreation programs, telephone reassurance.
All of the aforementioned supportive services are currently facilitated by the City of San
Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and this grant will allow for
expansion of services to include more senior citizens in our programs. Operations funded by
this grant will require no additional resources, i.e. (funding, manpower, materials or supplies)
from the City of San Bernardino.
