REPORT ON STATUS OF LITIGATION AND PROSECUTIONS
Civil lawsuits against the City. have declined from 128 in 1994 to 83 presently...
Lawsuits farmed out to outside attorneys have declined from 34 to 21 today. We are now
representing the City on more complicated litigations in-house.
Two items need to be mentioned that may have an impact on the City:
1. At will employee lawsuits.
2. Special circumstances involving certain cases.
An adjustment to staff will be made in the proposed 1997-98 budget as a result of
these changes. A report on that will occur at the next meeting of the Mayor and Common
Council.
.Prosecution filings by this office have gone from 113 in February 1994 to 150 in
February, 1997.
..There are presently 37 open cases where the City is plaintiff vs. 41 in 1994.
Open and active prosecutions: 4,403.
