Description) Finance: Council Notes: Res 97- ?O tJ3~3/tJ7 , I ___ Agenda Item No. 2r 75-0262 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT BACKGRomm: The city of San Bernardino has fee title to a 10' wide by 1119.56' long parcel of land (APN 26-131-24) dedicated for Water Department use located south of Northpark Boulevard west of the Mormon Church between Sun Valley Drive and Northpark Boulevard (see attached). The Water Department has an active 16" diameter transmission water main installed within the entire length of this 10' wide parcel. Access for maintenance, repair, and replacement of the pipeline is currently limited to the 10' width of the aforementioned parcel. Mr. W. R. Holcomb, owner of the undeveloped parcel contiguous to and immediately adjacent to the entire length of the City's aforementioned strip of land, has requested a quitclaim of the parcel to his contiguous parcel in consideration for concurrently granting the city, for Water Department use, a 15' wide by 1119.56' long water utility easement to accommodate the Water Department's 16" water main. Acceptance of the 15' wide easement in exchange for a quitclaim of the 10' strip of land would eliminate the Water Department's obligation to maintain and/or weed abate the parcel, and provide the Water Department enhanced access and a workable area to accommodate maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of the water main(s). COORDINATION: On February 4, 1997, the Board of Water Commissioners at their regularly scheduled meeting adopted Resolution No. 522 recommending that the Mayor and Common Council declare surplus and quitclaim parcel APN 26-131-24 to W. R.
