The property is directly adjacent to the Northwest Redevelopment Project Area. Mr. Webster requested the City'S assistance to eliminate the blight caused by the dilapidated building that has been vacant more than one year. Mr. Webster has negotiated with Alberto's restaurant to occupy the rehabilitated location. The future restaurant should employ fifty (50) new employees. Mr. Webster has provided landscape estimates from two companies with costs ranging from $19,800 to $23,465. The landscape estimates include costs for soil preparation, automatic sprinklers and planting. The City's share of one-half of the cost of the landscape improvements ($23,465) would be approximately $12,000. It should be noted that the project is not eligible for the 50/50 Landscape Program since the improvements are required in conjunction with a Development Permit. At its meeting of January 14, 1993, the Redevelopment Committee reviewed the project and recommended approval to the Community Development Commission. As to the landscaping and beautification efforts relative to this project, staff recommends adoption of the form motion. The project site is the southwest corner of Lincoln and Highland Avenue at 1033 W. Highland. ~ar Mr. Seinhouse, ~am the owner of the property noted above on Highland Avenue and have been talking with Michael Maudsley concerning the cost of rehabilitating the property to the requirement of the new city codes. I would like to request Economic Development Agency assistance on the landscape cost for the project. I have a tenant, Alberto's Restaurant. that will employ up to 50 people. I would appreciate it if you would consider my request and coordinate it with Mr. Maudsley who suggested I write to you. Your prompt attention would be greatly appreciated.
