Additionally, Charter Section 186 limits the number of classifications in the Fire Department. In order to pay the salaries agreed upon in the Charter Section 186 negotiations, it was necessary to describe these salaries as incentive pay for the P-2 Arson Investigator and the P-5 Training Officer and Fire Marshal. . , I . The December 7, 1992 Council action resulted in two resolutions, Resolut~on No. II~II, wh~ch ~ncluded the inc~ntive pay, ~nd Resolut1on No. ~i~Z, wh1ch 1ncluded the bas1c compensat1on plan for Police and 'ire Department employees. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that Resolution No. 92-457 be repealed and replaced with a new resolution that: 1. Corrects a typographical error in the salary for Police Officer, P-l schedule. 2. Reflects an effective date of December 7, 1992 for the salary schedule of Paramedic/Firefighter. The remaining salary schedules are effective as of August 1, 1992. However the position of ParamediC/Firefighter was not created by the Mayor and Common Council until October 5, 1992. Subsequently, Fire Local S9l requested a meet and confer session with the City on the salary for this position. As a result of agreement between the City and Fire Local 891, the new salary schedule was to be effective following the next Council action, which occurred December 7, 1992.
