ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 821; AND INCREASING THE LICENSE FEE FOR UNNEUTERED DOGS.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 821 Section 519 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Each person, firm or corporation owning,
"section 519:
harboring or having custody or control of a dog of the
months or more, within the City of San Bernardino, shall obtain
annually a license and tag for said dog and on or before the first
day of July of each year, shall pay to said City in advance for
the fiscal year, a license and tag fee of Eight Dollars ($8.00)
which shall include the cost of a tag for such dog, provided that
the license and tag fee for a neutered dog shall be Three Dollars
($3.00). In the event the appropriate fee is not paid prior to
August 1st of each year, a delinquency penalty of Four
Dollars ($4.00) shall be added to such fee. A fee of One
Dollar ($1.00) shall be charged for any additional tag issued to
replace a lost, stolen, misplaced or damaged tag. A fee of One
Dollar ($1.00) shall be charged for the transfer of ownership of
21 a licensed dog to a new owner in lieu of a fee for a new license
22 for the remainder of the year in which the transfer occurs.
23 If any person acquires the ownership, custody or control of
24 a dog on or after August 1st of any year the delinquency penalty
25 shall not be applicable, provided the owner obtains the license
26 required by this ordinance within one month after acquiring
27 the ownership, custody or control of such dog, if the dog is
28 then of the age of four months, or within one month after such

1 dog attains the age of four months. In all cases, the full
2 license fee and any applicable penalty shall be payable for
3 any fraction of a fiscal year.
4 Monies received during the current fiscal year for a
5 license shall be first applied to the payment of delinquent fees,
6 sums and penalties due during the preceding fiscal year, and any
7 _ balance remaining thereafter shall be applied to the payment of
8 the current license fees and penalties. A license issued during
9
any prior fiscal year to the same owner for the same dog as shown
10
in an application for a current license, shall be prima facie
11
evidence in any court or administrative proceeding that the dog
12
was continuously owned by the same owner from the prior year to
13
the current fiscal year."
