This will result in a savings of $36,450.00 annually and increase needed administrative staff. One of the first steps is to add a Storekeepers position. Part of the responsibilities of the Battalion Chief Aide was to deliver mail, equipment and supplies to fire stations and other city facilities which would become the responsibility of the Storekeeper. The Storekeeper would also be responsible for maintaining inventories of tools, equipment and supplies for the eleven fire stations. In addition, the Storekeeper would be responsible for automotive parts delivery and pick-up. In conclusion, it is more cost effective to replace the three (3) Battalion Chief's Aides with civilians which are less expensive. For example, the annual salary and benefits of a Battalion Chief's Aide is '57,697.00 while a Storekeeper's annual salary and benefits total '30,701.00. The savings that will be recognized at the completion of the total reorganization will be an annual savings of $36,450.00 while resulting in a more efficient use of safety and civilian personnel. , " ?'~_0264
