STAFF REPORT
The Water Department drilled a new water production well on a
parcel located at the northwest corner of 10th and "J" Streets.
Southern California Edison requires an easement for their electric
facilities to serve the well, to include underground wiring and a
pad mount transformer.
It is recommended that the grant of easement be approved.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE:
That the City of San Bernardino, a Municipal
Corporation, does hereby grant an easement to Southern California
9 Edison Company to provide additional electrical service to the
10 Water Department's 10th and "J" Street Well Site, located at 1014
11 West 10th Street.

SECTION TWO:
That the said Grant of Easement referred to
herein, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "1", and
14 is hereby referred to and made a part hereof as fully as though
15 set forth at length herein, is hereby approved.
16 SECTION THREE: That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of
17 San Bernardino are hereby authorized and directed to execute said
18 Grant of Easement on behalf of the City of San Bernardino.

20 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San

THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, a municipal corporation, (hereinafter referred to as "Grantor"j,
hereby grant to SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, a corporation, ns successors and ..si9nS
(hereinaher referred to as "Grantee"), an easement and right of way to construct. use, maintain,
operate. alter, add to. repair, replace, reconstruct, inspect and remove at any time and from time to time
underground e'ectrical supply systems and communication systems (hereinafter referred to as
.systems.), consisting of wires, underground conduits. cables, vaults, manholes, handholes, and including
above-ground enclosures, markers and concrete pads and other appurtenant fixtures and equipment
necessary or useful for distributing electrical energy and for transmining intelligence by electrical
means, in. on, over, under, across and along that certain real property in the County of San Bernardino,
State of California, described as follows:

A strip of land, 12 feet in width, lying within a portion of Lot 16, Rancho San Bernardino, as per
map recorded in Book 7, page 2 of Maps, in the OffICe of the Recorder of said County; the
centerline of said strip being described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point on the Westerty line of -J- Street, as now established, said point being distant
thereon 110 feet Northerly of the centerline of Tenth Street, as now established; thence North 120
West. a distance of 50 feet.
It is unclerstood and agreed that the above description is approximate only, it being lhe intention of
the Grantor(s) to grant an easement for said systems as constructed. The centerline of the easement shall
be coincidental with the centerline of said systems as constructed in. on, over, under, across and along
the Grantor{s) property.
The Grantor agrees for itself, its successors and assigns. not to erect, ptace or maintain, nor to
permit the erection, placement or maintenance of any buikting, planter boxes, earth fill or other
structures except walls and fences on the above described real property. The Grantee, and its
contractors, agents and employees, shall have the rtght to trim or cut tree roots as may endanger or
interfere with said systems and shall have free access to said systems and every part thereof. at all
time., for the purpose of exercising the rights herein granted; provided, however, that in making any
excavation on said property of the Grantor, the Grantee ahall make the same in such manner as will cause
the least injury to the surface of the ground around such axcavabon, and shall reptace the earth so
removed by it and AI.tore tha surface of the ground to as near the same condition as it was prior to such
excavation as is practicable.
