Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Recommended motion:
That the fee in the amount of $575 for City services to be provided
to Option House for a picnic be waived in accordance with Resolution
89-500 and, based upon the finding that the fees would create a
financial hardship jeopardizing the event planned for such use and
the picnic will be of unusual benefit to the inhabitants and should
be supported with public funds.

Option House has requested the use Perris Hill Park and
certain equipment for a fund raising event on September 1,
1990. Option House is also requesting a waiver of the fees
associated with the park and equipment usage. These fees are
as follows:
Park use $ 100.00
Folding Chairs (90) 135.00
Folding Tables (30) 240.00
Picnic Tables (10) 100.00
Total $ 575.00
These fees are required to cover overtime costs for park
personnel to deliver and retrieve the picnic tables on the
weekend and to cover the depreciation of the equipment due to
the fair wear and tear resulting from this type of use.
Since these are real costs to the City, it is my
recommendation that these fees not be waived.
Option House is a very worthwhile program and the fund raiser
is highly essential because of their financial situation. I
would further recommend, therefore, that the city consider
supporting this event in the amount of $575 from the city

We at Option House, Inc. are planning our Firat Annual Option House Fund Raising
Picnic. !his event hus been scheduled to take place September 1, 1990 at
Perria Hill Park.
Per a conversstion with Mrs. Annie Ramos of Parks snd Recreation Department, we
have been informed that there is a fee for the use of city owned equipment and
that those feea can be.waived by only the Mayor and the Common COuncil. Yqur
help to waive those fees would greatly benefit our caule.
As you are already aware, Option House, Inc. was not allocated monies this year
from the Community Development Block Crant (CDBG). W. are all diligently
working to recoup these monies throu~h our own fund raising efforts.
Our fund raising picnic will be more than a day of family fun. We will be invi-
ting various social aervice agencies in the community to participate at our
information and referral tablel. Along with thie request for assiatance, the
Board of Directors and Staff at Option House would like to extend an invitation
to the Mayor and each member of the Common Council to participate in this very
important avent to insure its succela.

returned promptly, the deposit shall be forfeited.

Mr. Boggs:
Per our conversation, Friday, July 20, 1990, I am informing you of our
planned activities for the Option House, Inc. First Annual Fundraising
Picnic:
1) Food Sales - hot dogs, hamburgers, bar-b-grills, baked beans, salad,
corn-on-cob, pies, cakes, cookies, chips, etc.
2) Game Booths - "toss the coin", "win a prize"; "shoot the hoop",
"win a prize"; dart ballon; bowling cans; ring toss; etc.
3) Dunk Tank - throw the ball, dunk the board member
4) 'Sack Races
5) Water Races
6) Egg Races
7) Information/Referral Booths - domestic violence
Admission to the picnic will be one dollar. We do plan (at this time) to
have security and medical personnel on the premises.
