STAFF REPORT
A recommendation submitted on March 5, 1990, for ra~s~ng salaries
for poll workers was referred to the Ways and Means Committee.
The Ways and Means Committee met March 12, 1990, and adopted a
motion to raise poll worker salaries and polling place rental
rates as follows:
Inspectors: $70.00
Clerks/Judges: $50.00
Polling place rental: $60.00
This will increase the cost of elections by $12,500 per election
but should result in increased availability of polling places and
election workers.
The inspector I s salary of $70.00 is equivalent to a salary of
$4.375 per hour. This person puts in a minimum of 14 hours at
the polls and an additional two hours to attend a training class.
